Conviction rates have been lowest for a decade

SCOTLAND'S conviction rate for rape has been the lowest of all offences for over a decade.

Less than half of rape and attempted rape cases brought before courts end in a conviction, new figures have revealed. It means convictions continue to remain the lowest of all offences as has been the trend over the last 10 years.

The shocking revelation comes despite the number of sexual crimes increasing by 45per cent since 2015.
