SCOTLAND risks falling behind the rest of the UK in the race for clean home heating after flagship legislation was watered down, an expert has warned.

Gillian Campbell, co-director of the 20-group strong Existing Homes Alliance, hit out at the SNP government's move to gut its revised Heat in Buildings Bill, published last week.

It includes the removal of provisions to require new homeowners to swap gas boilers for low-carbon alternatives after a set period.
