Alba Party Tasmina's joy at award in memory of esteemed late politician

A SCHOOL in North Macedonia has introduced an award for young leaders in memory of Alex Salmond.

It comes after the former Scottish first minister died in the country while attending a conference in October.

The award was announced by former president of North Macedonia, Dr Gjorge Ivanov, who founded the country's School for Young Leaders.

Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, the chair of Salmond's Alba Party and who was in the Balkan country with him when he died, returned to Ohrid in May to attend a culture and diplomacy forum event.

She said: "It was a great honour to meet both the current and former presidents of North Macedonia.
