Police Scotland has been accused of an intimidation campaign against a pensioner activist charged under contro- versial terror legislation.

- BY MARCELLO MEGA

Mick Napier, 78, was arrested and spent a night in cells after wearing a T-shirt saying “Genocide in Palestine. Time to take Action”, and has had officers visit his home seven times in a week to “remind him of bail condition”.

The Sunday Mail can reveal his lawyer Mark Harrower has now written a letter of complaint to cops stating that the “only possible explanation... is intimidation”.

Harrower, a former president of the Edinburgh Bar Association, points out his client's age and describes him as a “supporter of the people of Palestine and a peaceful protester against the killing and starvation of innocent civilians in Gaza”. He states: “On 22nd July he was granted bail at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on standard conditions following a peaceful protest in Edinburgh on 19th July 2025. He has received seven separate visits from police officers to check if he is aware of his bail conditions.

“After four visits, I sent a message advising Mr Napier was aware of the conditions and wanted the visits to stop. A reply advised someone would be in touch. I have had no contact and the visits continued and now number seven.

“The only possible explanation is to intimidate my client and his wife. Not only is this a huge waste of police resources, it makes Scotland look like it is turning into a police state. It is nothing short of harassment.”
