RICHARD SPENCER'S sprinter Two Tribes went to war with the bookies to land a monumental gamble in Goodwood’s Coral Stewards’ Cup.

Despite landing the Moët & Chandon International Handicap on Ascot’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes undercard a week earlier, the four-year-old was on offer at 18-1 for the six-furlong cavalry charge yesterday morning.

Punters backed Two Tribes down to 11-2 and David Egan’s mount netted the money, charging down the stands’ side for a two-and-a-quarterlength margin from Strike Red, who short-headed Jakajaro for second.
