Shock as Nigel bows out of Strictly after breaking rib

EASTENDERS and Casualty star Nigel Harman told of his sadness at being forced to quit Strictly Come Dancing because of a broken rib.

The audience favourite had been due to compete in last night's Musicals Week with a Charleston to Step in Time from Disney's Mary Poppins with his partner Katya Jones, 34.

As a result there is no public vote and elimination this weekend and the judges scores will be carried over to next Saturday's semi-final.

The accident happened in rehearsals when Nigel was meant to have been caught in the arms of dancers as he jumped off a rostrum, but ended up in A&E instead.

Because of the pain and the painkillers he is on, he felt unable to compete.
