NICK FERRARI Labour fears middle class Green exodus
Sunday Express
|February 15, 2026
AS THIS government lurches from crisis to crisis and demonstrates all the sure-footedness of a football club bound for relegation, a new real and present danger has emerged.
-
Desperate to shore up support at any price, it would appear Labour have adopted a Kama Sutra approach to politics; namely any position with anyone or even everyone and at any time.
There have been more moves to the left, then to the right, and even down the centre than an episode of Strictly Come Dancing, but as nothing seems to improve their cha-cha-chances of winning back voters’ approval, the band that can’t shoot straight seem ready to try anything...and that even includes reversing Brexit!
The politics behind this potential betrayal of the biggest democratic mandate in decades is straightforward.
As Labour lose legions of working-class voters who can justly claim they've already been betrayed, they're also suffering another exodus.
And that’s members of the middle class who see themselves as liberal progressives and are now flirting with the Green Party as their numbers swell and support grows.
