After a pretty lame start to 2026 from traditional London theatre, Wayne McGregor's Royal Ballet masterpiece captures the dreams, desires and demons of writer Virginia Woolf across three wildly different pieces, spine-tinglingly opening with the only surviving recording of her voice.

Stunningly staged and danced to Max Richter's surging score, it starts with I now, I then - inspired by 1925's Mrs Dalloway. Two parallel stories, a society matron and army veteran with PTSD, both haunted by the past.
