CALAFIORI TO THE RESCUE

RICCARDO CALAFIORI only scores when Arsenal need him most - and the Italian defender was the Gunners unlikely goal hero again.

The £42million star, signed from Bologna last summer, helped clinch a controversial draw at Manchester City earlier this season with his first goal for the club as 10-man Arsenal won a huge battle. And after Myles Lewis- Skelly was controversially sent off by Michael Oliver at Molineux, the defender grabbed his second for the club to send Mikel Arteta and Gunners fans into orbit.

Victory had seemed unlikely as Oliver brandished an instant 42nd-minute red card to Lewis-Skelly, who cynically stopped Matt Doherty as Wolves launched a cavalry charge forward after an Arsenal corner broke down.

Confusion reigned at first as the Arsenal youngster wasn't the last man and the ball was deep in Wolves' half.

But the foul was deemed serious foul play and was confirmed by VAR, despite furious Arsenal protests which earned a booking for Jurrien Timber.
