BRIAN Blessed says female gorillas appear to find him sexy – and have even tried to unzip his trousers.

- Marc Baker

Brian's close encounter...with a gorilla

The veteran actor and passionate wildlife conservationist revealed his frisky encounters with the big apes at his local zoo during his stage show in which he talks about his career.

The Flash Gordon star, who is renowned for his bushy beard and booming voice, said: “Female gorillas find me sexy. There used to be one in Surrey, a big bull gorilla called Gurgis, who was about 48 stone and I used to wrestle him. I used to make him laugh a lot.

“Sometimes I used to pretend Gurgis was hurting me and all the female gorillas used to come running. I was only acting.

“The female gorillas used to sit with me.

“You had to empty your pockets as before you know it they’ve got your glasses and are wearing them.

“But females gorillas always found me sexy. They used to try and grab you and they know how to unzip.
