Green defy standings to beat table-toppers

HAWK Green entertained Mobberley, joint leaders in the league, on Saturday and produced their best result of the season so far.
With a fast outfield and rock hard wicket it appeared winning the toss would be a great help and it was the Mobberley skipper, Matt Mountney, who called correctly and elected to bat.
Their openers, Burgess and Hassan, faced the Greens opening attack of Jack Needham and Lee Hallas and both struggled against the pace and bounce generated by both bowlers.
Needham struck first when he had Hassan excellently caught by keeper Jake Skelton for 6, 21-1.
New batsman Latif also struggled until he was dismissed lbw by Needham for 9, 31-2. At this stage Needham was near unplayable and it was no surprise when he took his third wicket, Burgess, caught Skelton for 17, 42-3.
