Parkinson's coffee morning a success
Stirling Observer
|May 14, 2025
Last week marked 80 years since Victory in Europe Day.
It was a moment to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Second World War and to honour all current and former members of our armed forces, including the 3,371 veterans living in Stirling and Strathallan today.
I welcome the UK Government's launch of VALOUR, a new £50 million support network that will establish recognised veteran hubs and deploy Regional Field Officers to help connect veterans with the services they need and deserve.
I recently visited Balquhidder to meet the inspiring team behind Balquhidder Community Broadband.
Thanks to the determination of local volunteers, the village now benefits from high-speed internet delivered through 36 kilometres of fibre cable they laid themselves. It's a powerful example of community-led innovation, and I was pleased to celebrate their success and discuss how we can continue to support broadband access in remote and rural parts of the constituency.
