Like much of North India, Kathua district continues to reel under a relentless heatwave. Monday recorded the highest temperature of the season so far, with the mercury soaring to a sweltering 43.9°C, making it the hottest day of summer 2025 in the region.

The intense heat has forced most residents indoors during daytime hours, with city streets appearing largely deserted as hot winds sweep across the region. The soaring temperatures have significantly disrupted daily routines, limiting outdoor activity to the early morning or late evening hours.
