PDL/TDL workers of PDD suspend agitation for 15 days following assurance from MD JPDCL

JAMMU: The long-standing protest by PDL/TDL workers of the Power Development Department (PDD), who have been serving across various corporations in Jammu and Kashmir for over 25 years, was temporarily suspended today for 15 days. The decision came following an assurance from the Managing Director (MD) of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (JPDCL) regarding their long-pending demands, primarily centered around regularization and release of pending wages.

In a press conference held in Jammu, Akhil Sharma, President of the PDL/TDL Workers Union, strongly criticized the JPDCL management for inviting private contractors to provide manpower on a contractual basis. He stated that this move directly undermines the interests of nearly 10,000 PDL/TDL workers who are yet to be regularized despite the framing of rules for their regularization nearly three years ago.
