JKTF raises concern over shrinking summer vacations in Jammu division

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), under the leadership of its Chief Patron, Ganesh Khajuria, has strongly object-ed to the continued reduction in summer vacation duration for schools in the Jammu Division, calling it unjust when compared to the long winter vacations granted in the Kashmir Division.

As per the recent order issued by the Directorate of School Education, Jammu (Order No. 186-DSEJ of 2025 dated May 31, 2025, the summer vacation has been restricted to just 37 days (June 7 to July 16, 2025)-a significant reduction from the earlier norm of approximately 60 days.
Khajuria expressed serious concern over the issue, stating, "This reduction is not only unfair but also fails to acknowledge the harsh Summer conditions prevalent in Jammu, where tempera-tures soar beyond tolerable lev-els, especially in Government schools with inadequate infra-structure."
