Swans keeping cards close to their chest in striker search
South Wales Evening Post
|August 20, 2025
THINGS are looking very positive at Swansea City right now. Some impressive moves in the transfer market, as well as the recent investment of Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric, has contributed to a noticeable buzz around the club this summer.
Saturday's superb win over Sheffield United has got their Championship season up and running on the pitch, although Alan Sheehan clearly felt his side were good for more than just the one goal on the day against the admittedly hopeless Blades.
The 1-0 scoreline certainly didn’t reflect Swansea's relative comfort on the day, an observation that once again brings their recent striker search under the microscope.
Not that there's an awful lot to really examine at the moment.
Swansea have done an excellent job in keeping their cards close to their chest with many of their captures in this window, and their ongoing search for a new number nine appears to be the latest example.
As CEO Tom Gorringe pointed out at the latest fans’ forum, it’s clearly how the club would prefer to do their business.
"There's a huge amount of misinformation in the the public domain," he said.
“I think that probably gives a false perception of here we are and what decisions are being taken at any given time.
