QUINS BOSS DELIGHTS IN THRILLING WIN

CARMARTHEN Quins director of rugby Steff Thomas praised the character of his players after they pulled off a stunning win at Cardiff in Super Rygbi Cymru.

Having led 18-7 at the break, the hosts responded after the restart.

It was backs-to-the-wall for the West Walians after they were pinged for continuous infringements at the maul and were reduced to 13 men at one stage.

No. 8 Lewys Millin and lock Tom Phillips were yellow-carded before Cardiff struck to take the lead 33-26.

But it was the Quins leaving as victors after they pulled level through replacement hooker Lewys Jones’ try which was converted by Elis Price. And Price was then the hero after nailing a penalty with the last kick to snatch a thrilling triumph.

“We showed tremendous character down to 13 men,’ said a delighted Thomas.

“Cardiff had, I think, five attempts at scoring off driving line-outs during the time we were down to 13 men, and it was a heroic effort to keep them out.
