Prisoners helping to provide emergency parcels to veterans

THIS Remembrance season, veterans are proving that service to others doesn’t end when life takes a difficult turn.

Inside HMP Swansea, veterans are leading a powerful new approach to rehabilitation through ViCeR (Veteran & Inmate Crisis Emergency Response) - an innovative project created by Swansea-based humanitarian charity V-Aid.

Next Thursday, James Phillips, Veterans Commissioner for Wales and Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan Louise Fleet will visit the prison to see how veteran staff and inmates are using their training, discipline and lived experience to mentor others, produce emergency humanitarian aid and drive life-changing reform from the inside out.

At the heart of ViCeR lies V-Aid’s Veterans in Crisis (ViC) project - a veteran-led initiative which provides emergency food and hygiene parcels to struggling veterans and their families across the UK.
