Morgan refuses to rule out Senedd election deal with Plaid as Labour support slides

FIRST Minister Eluned Morgan has refused to say whether she would work with a Plaid Cymru first minister if her party loses next year’s Senedd election.

Recent polling has shown Labour's popularity plummeting among the Welsh public, with three consecutive polls projecting the party will come third behind Reform UK and Plaid Cymru in May 2026.

The First Minister admitted Labour face a “challenge” looking forward to next year’s election, but says she is “keen” to ensure she remains in the top job.

However, Ms Morgan refused to talk about potential agreements with other parties until after polling day.

Labour has been in power in Cardiff Bay since devolution in 1999, but support for the party in recent opinion polls has been much lower than in previous Senedd elections.
