Llandarcy at the races with Chepstow cup upset

A RECORD number of 272 clubs entered the JD Welsh FA Cup this season, all looking for the prize of European football, with the winning club guaranteed a place in the Uefa Conference League

The first qualifying round got under way last weekend and one of the standout performances saw Macron West Wales Premier League newcomers Llandarcy knock out Chepstow Town of the Ardal South East League.

Llandarcy went ahead in the fifth minute. Aaron Hillier was fouled on the left wing and Jacob Evans headed in a superb Daniel Thomas free kick.

Chepstow equalised just before half time when sloppy marking allowed their centre back Iestyn Davies space to head in from close range.

After going close to regaining the lead several times, an excellent Adam Jones pass sent Cameron Williams clear and his drive across the Chepstow keeper Matthew Swann proved enough to send Llandarcy into the next round.
