'I've got no confidence in powers that be at the WRU' - Davies

WALES legend Jonathan 'Jiffy' Davies says he has “no confidence” in the decision-makers at the Welsh Rugby Union despite agreeing that having four professional sides is unsustainable.

With the autumn internationals now upon us, Steve Tandy's side will take to the field against Argentina on Sunday against another backdrop of off-field drama and uncertainty, with many of those in the squad unsure of where they will be playing their club rugby next season.

Last month, the WRU confirmed that the number of professional clubs in Wales will be cut from four to three by the 2027/28 season at the latest, with one based in Cardiff, one in the east and one in the west.

The union will meet individually with representatives of all four sides - Cardiff, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets - in person this week to find a way forward, but the decision comes ahead of a tough autumn international campaign, with Tandy taking control of Wales for the first time as they face the Pumas, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa.
