ARE you familiar with those TV ads that encourage people to go into teaching?

- By MIKE WARD, television critic

Facing a new kind of Robot war

I must admit I find them quite annoying. “Every lesson shapes a life,’ they insist. “Does it heck,’ I'll harrumph.Don't get me wrong; it’s not that I don’t respect great teachers. I had several. No, it’s the fact that I don’t respect dreadful ones, of which I had a good many more.

Hence it’s the “every” part that winds me up. I had teachers who I doubt could have “shaped” a lump of Play-Doh, let alone a life. Don’t let’s insult all the good ones by giving the bad ones equal billing, that’s ail I'm saying.
