Fine all-round performance completes league double over rivals

A fine all-round performance saw Timsbury complete the double over Lansdown 2nd with a 28-run win in Division One of the Bristol & District League.

In a game reduced to 25 overs, Timsbury were indebted to some incredible catches to secure the victory. After being put into bat, openers Mark Sage and Jon Strand got Timsbury off to a dynamic start with 72 in just 12 overs.

When Strand departed for 33, followed quickly by Sage (34), Lew Redwood (25), captain Jesse Bishop (26) and Freddie Hosford (18) all batted with a refreshing fluency. George Wood (2-21) and Alex Donovan (2-37) were the most successful with the ball as Timsbury finished on 163-6.

Hosford managed a superb caught and bowled to instantly put Lansdown on the back-foot, and that was soon followed by catches from Redwood, Bishop and Gary Pearcy.

A number of Lansdown batters got starts but, with the exception of Sam Athay (29), failed to make significant contributions. For Timsbury, Strand followed his batting exploits with 3-11, alongside 3-30 for Pearcy, 2-17 for Hosford and 2-30 for Kev Sibley as Lansdown were dismissed in the final over for 135.

■The second side put up a spirited display at home to Division Six leaders Stoke Bishop, before eventually losing by 65 runs.

In just 27 overs, Bishop compiled an impressive 243-4 which was always going to be a huge mountain to climb.

Josh Tucker (53) and George Webb (48) made a good go of the chase, while a timely contribution from Sol Thompson (40) saw Timsbury to a respectable 178-5.

■Captain Chris Rawlings led from the front for the third team, who completed the double over Chilcompton 2nd in Division Nine East.

In another 25-over match, Rawlings scored 34 as Timsbury reached 135-4. He was well-supported by Max Steeds (36) and Matt Ball (21). Sean White (1-30), Roger Davis (0-19), Gareth Rogers (1-25), Miles Hadrill (1-15), Tom Scott (0-11) and Tom Warner (1-21) all showed endeavour for Chili.
