It's a huge loss for South African football

On Chiefs' Netherlands pre-season

Kaizer Chiefs went to Turkey last season, and even though their season didn't go well, they redeemed themselves by winning the Nedbank Cup. I think the friendly games they played in Turkey helped them a lot because they prepared the team to play until the last whistle. I believe they will return (from the Netherlands) with a completely different mindset because the standard in Europe is not at the same level as here in South Africa. It will benefit them, and they need to do this more often going forward.

On whether players are getting enough rest or not

I've been reading a lot about whether players are getting enough rest or not, and players have been giving their input regarding the number of matches they play in a season. Mind you, it's not only at the club level. If you think about it, players might play 60 games in all club competitions, and when you include national team games, the number becomes a lot. Fatigue can also play a huge role because playing so many games increases the risk of injury. So, rest is very important, but the fixtures have to be played and honoured, unfortunately. They must enjoy themselves while they're still playing because after retirement, they'll start missing going to camps. You start missing playing as much as you can. No player wants to sit on the bench; they all want to play. So, while they still can, they must just make sure that they prepare themselves mentally, physically and emotionally to go through the season and playing as many games as they can.

I'm not happy about it

Marumo Gallants may have fallen just short in the Carling Knockout Final, but their spirited run to the showpiece at a sold-out Peter Mokaba Stadium reminded many of the club's fighting identity.

Let's become role models

We live in an era where positive role models can be scarce, which means the next generation feels lost as there are no examples they can relate to in their immediate communities.
