It is about leaving a legacy

Let me start by congratulating our boys on qualifying for this year's FIFA U20 World Cup because it's not easy to qualify for that tournament.

Obviously, they are the future of South African football, and we are looking forward to seeing them doing well in Chile. This is a great opportunity for them to be seen by overseas scouts and get overseas contracts. They deserve to be there, and this is a platform for them to get exposure. They are going to that tournament as African champions and that means they are not just going there to represent South Africa, they are going there to represent the African continent and that's what they should know. Yes, they are young, but someone must tell them that they are representing Africa and should make the continent proud because, after the World Cup, they will leave a mark. They'll be remembered for years to come. Everyone will talk about that South African team that went to the World Cup and did one, two and three. It is about leaving a legacy. They must go there and leave their mark. If I were to advise them, I'd tell them to go out there and play their normal game and not change their style because they qualified for the World Cup playing their normal game. They must work as a team, knowing that they are playing for their families and every football supporter in Africa. I've watched some of their games and I know they can do well, they are really talented. Just imagine getting an overseas contract at the age of 17. It's a big deal and we last heard of something like that during the

days of Aaron Mokoena and others. This is a great opportunity for our players and that's going to help the country going forward. We want to see that mixture of experience and young talent in Bafana Bafana going forward.

Will Pirates also suffer similar Downs fate?

Now that Pirates have contributed 9 players to the national team, the same fate that befell Sundowns could visit the Soweto team at the end of the AFCON.

South Americans are very fragile

Last weekend we saw Orlando Pirates make history by becoming the first Carling Knockout champions to beat the All-Stars team, after both Magesi FC and Stellenbosch FC failed to do so in the previous two seasons. Pirates were forced to play without several of their regulars as they are in camp in preparation for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou's charges beat coach Manqoba Mngqithi's team 2-0 to be crowned champions, for the second time in a week. Congratulations to Bucs as they close the year on a high note.
