St Simon's marks 150 years of parish worship

A South Shields church has celebrated its 150th anniversary.
Lord Blyton Primary School's anniversary banner.
St Simon’s Church, on Wenlock Road, honoured the landmark occasion on October 26.
The church, which is now part of the Parish of Jarrow and Simonside, celebrated 150 years since the original parish of St Simon's was created.
The anniversary has now set in motion a celebration which is set to last five years before it marks the 150th anniversary of the consecration of the church building in 2030.
Revd Andrew McAllister, curate in the Parish of Jarrow and Simonside, has explained how important the anniversary of St Simon’s is to the parish.
