'Saving lives' – doctor leads latest aid mission to Ukraine

A Ukrainian doctor is continuing his mission to help his war-torn homeland by sending vital emergency vehicles to the front line.

Dr Anatoliy Telpov, an emergency unit doctor at South Tyneside District Hospital, has teamed up with local boxing clubs and a medical firm to send two frontline ambulances and a minibus to Ukraine.

Dr Telpov, who now lives in Whitley Bay, is originally from Ivano-Frankivsk in Western Ukraine and has already made several trips to deliver ambulances at the Polish border, where they are handed over to Ukrainian military representatives.
