HUNDREDS of supporters - including a group of local councillors - set the streets of Sevenoaks a-glow in aid of Hospice in the Weald’s annual Moonlight Walk recently.

The popular event has so far raised £133,000 thanks to supporters’ fundraising efforts and generous match funding.

As the sun set and the stars appeared, walkers set off from Sevenoaks Rugby Club to complete a choice of four-mile, eight-mile or 13-mile routes, which this year took in more of the beautiful Knole Park.

Welcomed back with a glass of prosecco, they had the chance to enjoy tasty food while the talented Penny Farthing Circus mesmerized all with their luminous hula hooping.

This year’s top fundraising team, which has raised an incredible £16,800 and counting, was led by Councillor Nick Varley supported by a large group of family, friends and councillors from the Sevenoaks area.

Mayor of Sevenoaks Tony Clayton also showed his support.

Nick has first-hand experience of the free specialist care and support Hospice in the Weald offers, since being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease at the end of last year.
