THAILAND may be synonymous with exotic holidays, palm-fringed beaches and a hedonistic lifestyle and whisky-making would not feature on many people's lists to associate with the country.
However, the people behind the launch of Prakaan hope to soon change that.
It is the first single malt from Kamphaeng Phet in northern Thailand where the distillery is located.
The whisky uses the region's famous natural mineral groundwater as its base.
Distillation takes place in copper pot stills manufactured by Moray-based Forsyths.
Tribute
Matured in American oak ex-bourbon and Spanish oak ex-sherry casks, the process occurs in two large underground warehouses, designed to carefully control ageing in Thailand's hot, humid climate.
