WHAT IS THE 'BRIT CARD' AND HOW WILL IT WORK?

BRITS might feel like they need to carry some sort of ID with them everywhere these days.

From driving licences to supermarket loyalty cards, it seems we are constantly being inundated with digital prints. Now the UK Government is set to add one more to the list - the digital ID card.

When?

There is currently no word on when the 'Brit Card' would be launched or how it would be rolled out.

How does the 'Brit Card' work?

It will apparently allow the verification of a citizen's right to live and work in the UK. Anyone starting a new job or looking to rent a home would need to show it on an app. It would then be checked against a central database of people entitled to live and work in the UK.
