What a difference a day makes as temp to climb by up to 20C

SCOTLAND is set to face an incredible turnaround in its weather in just 24 hours.

After the country recorded its coldest night in recent months, forecasters are predicting that the weekend will bring much warmer, wetter weather.

If a high of 8C (46.4F) — the seasonal average — is reached, that will represent a near 20C turnaround in temperatures in a single day.

The Met Office said a low of -11.7 (10.94F) was recorded yesterday morning at Loch Glascarnoch, south of Ullapool - the coldest temperature of autumn so far.

But it is predicted to be all change from today, with Aiden McGivern, of the Met Office saying: "Temperatures are back towards average but not as mild as we saw quite frequently during the first half of November.

"But it will be less cold than the last few days.
