Unis told to cough up over slave trade links

CASH-STRAPPED Scots universities have been urged to hand over reparation cash due to their role in slavery.

A number of higher education institutions are experiencing money troubles, with the likes of Dundee and Aberdeen cutting hundreds of jobs.

And now Cambridge academic Dr Michael Banner wants to add to this misery by demanding that universities pay out for being involved in “colonial activities”.

He wants them to “examine their links with the wealth which flowed from transatlantic enslavement”.
