Taxpayers could foot Turnberry trip bills

TAXPAYERS could be forced to fork out £20million to cover President Donald Trump’s trip to Scotland after a breakdown of his security arrangements.
The Scottish Police Authority claimed the figure was the highest “costing” for the force’s security arrangement to protect the President during his five-day visit.
The body revealed 6,144 officers were involved in “one of the biggest operations” in the force’s history since the Queen’s funeral.
Police Scotland also had to draft in 1,197 officers from around the UK to help provide security.
The visit saw the President escorted by police from Prestwick Airport to his Turnberry golf course, where he played a game of golf with his son Eric.
