Derby runner-up syndicate focus on Group One dream

LAZY GRIFF will seek to realise the “ambition” of Classic glory for owners Middleham Park Racing in the Betfred St Leger after his 50-1 second in Saturday’s Derby.

The Charlie Johnston-trained son of Melbourne Cup hero Protectionist belied his outsider status with a three-and-three-quarter-length second to Lambourn, who gave Aidan O’Brien a record-extending 11th success in the colts’ test.
