Tom Hiddleston is back as Jonathan Pine in a thrilling new series of The Night Manager
-
It's been nearly 10 years since the steamy first series of The Night Manager was broadcast, and star Tom Hiddleston is relieved that fans can now enjoy a second helping of the spy thriller.
“Over the last decade people have often asked me if there will ever be more from The Night Manager, and I’ve never been able to confirm or deny,” he says. “So, it’s very exciting to have arrived at this juncture where we have made something new, which has the familiar flavours, spices and strains of what we did the first time. But this is something completely fresh and original. This second series has a depth, a resonance and a rawness of emotion. We've been very brave about that, and committed to pull the masks away from these characters, to let you see their innermost truths, in all their passion and complexity. I'm excited for audiences to see it.”
In the first series, based on John le Carré’s 1993 novel, Tom's character Jonathan Pine was the night manager of a hotel in Cairo who was recruited by Foreign Office agent Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of suspected arms dealer Richard Roper. The final episode ended without revealing what was next for Jonathan, and Tom was keen to find out.

IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR
A little goes a very long way in the third chapter of director James Cameron's blockbusting franchise. Avatar: Fire And Ash is a masterclass in candyfloss storytelling, expertly fluffing around an hour of linear plot and character development into more than three hours of jaw-dropping visual spectacle that continues to push the envelope for performance capture technology.
