Gassama on way as Gers boss defends English market focus

RUSSELL MARTIN has dismissed concerns he's risking a repeat of Rangers' transfer struggles by shopping solely in the English market.

Sheffield United winger Djeidi Gassama is poised to become his sixth recruit from a club down south this summer following Max Aarons, Joe Rothwell, Emmanuel Fernandez, Thelo Aasgaard and Nasser Djiga.

But Martin, left, feels players with British experience adapt more quickly at Ibrox.

He said: "There's a balance at this club of the expectation and signing people who understand it a bit.
