SNP faces cash crisis as election looming

JOHN SWINNEY is facing a financial crisis ahead of the upcoming Holyrood election as the SNP struggles to attract big donations and relies on Westminster cash.

According to the Electoral Commission's latest report, the Nats have declared just £2,584 in cash donations in 2025 so far. And this came from a bequest from Andrew Mackie, who left the money in his will.

The majority of significant donations to the SNP in recent years have been from deceased members.
