Scots couple's death was murder-suicide say cops

A FINANCIAL expert who investigated organised crime murdered his Scots-born wife at the couple's retirement home in France before killing himself, police have revealed.

Initially, it had been rumoured that Andrew and Dawn Searle had been killed on the orders of underworld figures in revenge for the work he used to do.

But yesterday, French law enforcement figures ruled out this possibility.

The couple, who had lived near Edinburgh before retiring, were discovered in February at their home in a quit village around 80 miles outside of Toulouse.

Mrs Searle, 56, was discovered partially-clothed on the front lawn and her 62-year-old husband was found hanging in an upstairs bedroom. Their deaths sparked a huge police investigation involving both French police and their UK counterparts, including Policd Scotland.
