Santander to close doors on 10 of its Scottish branches

SANTANDER has become the latest finance giant to announce a raft of branch closures as the transformation of the UK into a banking desert continues.

We previously reported that the Spanish-based firm was reviewing operations, putting Scottish customers on red alert. It has around 40 branches in Scotland.

Around 750 jobs, 4% of its UK operations, are said to be at risk of redundancy with Santander cutting its branch network from 444 to 349.
