RODGERS' GREEN LIGHT FOR ELVIS
Scottish Daily Express
|October 16, 2025
STEVEN PRESSLEY has revealed how Brendan Rodgers swung open the Lennoxtown gates to him when he was out of work.
The Dundee head coach will go head to head with the titlewinning manager when he takes Celtic to Dens Park on Saturday, but he explained yesterday how he reached out to the Northern Irishman to see if he could come along to witness his coaching style first hand.
"I went to visit Brendan when he was at Celtic and I was out of management at the time," said Pressley, who is looking forward to welcoming Rodgers to Tayside at the weekend.
"I went in and spent a day with Brendan. It was very good and he makes you feel very welcome. I appreciated that.
"I really enjoyed it and I picked up a few things.
'That is one of his many strengths, that he is very accommodating to managers who are young and aspiring or out of the game.
"He understands how hard a job it is and so he opens doors for people."
The 52-year-old knows the importance of these types of visits in order to keep evolving as a coach and a manager. He has experienced it in the past with David Moyes and Jordi Cruyff.
He continued: "I try to be like Brendan because I know how difficult it can be when you lose your job or you are out of football.
