RNLI hero's lifeboat left to crumble

FEARS have been raised that a memorial to the RNLI's most decorated lifeboatman has been left to rot.

The tribute to legendary volunteer Henry Blogg consists of half the wooden hull of the 1930s crab boat he used, alongside his bust.

But now the boat is falling into disrepair in Cromer’s North Lodge Park.

Henry saved an astonishing 873 lives in 53 years of service in his home town of Cromer in Norfolk.

He first joined the lifeboat crew as a young man in his early 20s in 1894, and became coxswain 15 years later.

He was part of many medal-winning rescues, including in 1917 when his crew launched four times in 14 hours.
