Rise in stamp prices slammed by public
Scottish Daily Express
|April 07, 2025
MORE than two-thirds of people believe frequent hikes in first-class stamp prices are unfair.
From today they go up to £1.70 - more than double the 76p cost in 2020. It is the eighth price hike since then despite Royal Mail failing to meet any annual delivery targets.
One in three say they would struggle to afford a book of eight, now costing £13.60, a poll for Citizens Advice found.
And some 16% would find it difficult even to pay for a single stamp after the latest 5p rise.
Second-class stamps are now 2p more at 87p and 22% said buying a £7 book of eight was out of reach while 9% would find it hard to pay for just one.
