Popular presenter Irons joins nation's biggest suicide talk

ONE of the nation’s most-popular presenters has spoken of her involvement in Scotland’s biggest-ever discussion about suicide.

‘Amy Irons is among a number of stars who have contributed to a new podcast entitled, “What If”.

It has been coordinated by Suicide Prevention Scotland and will feature four episodes, the first will be released tomorrow on what is World Suicide Prevention Day.

Seven years ago, Amy lost her partner, Wayne Ewer, to suicide.

Now she hopes to use the power of her own lived and living experience to guide and assist others.

‘The presenter highlighted how simply talking can be the first step on the road to helping someone.

Ms Irons said: “It’s been seven years since Wayne died by suicide.

“Yes, it still feels raw but I’ve wanted to find a way that I could contribute to suicide prevention in Scotland.”

She went on: “Being part of the ‘What if? podcast has given me an opportunity to talk to some incredible people, including many like myself who have lost a loved one.

“There were tears but also lots of smiles, too.
