Our win over Celts proves we can still escape, says Clark

THEIR Scottish Cup dream may have crashed and burned against rampant Celtic, but Nicky Clark insists St Johnstone's shock win over the same opponents 14 days earlier proves they are still capable of pulling off the great escape to stay in the top flight.

A mere fortnight separated Saints’ 1-0 league victory over the leaders in Perth and last weekend's 5-0 semi-final hammering at Hampden.

“We were all looking forward to Sunday and it didn’t go the way we had planned, so we're disappointed,” said 33-year-old striker Clark.

“But that's in the past now. We've got more important things coming up with the five league games. All our mindset is on that. We had a good session this morning and we're looking forward to Motherwell because we need to get off to a good start.

“We've shown since January time that we are more than capable of putting results together. You just need to look back to the Celtic game at home. Yes, we rode our luck at times and Andy Fisher in goals was magnificent.
