Old rope exhibition sinks the art world to a spectacular new low

CALL me a philistine, but artist David Shrigley’s rope mountain just doesn't float my boat.

Instead it leaves me with a sinking feeling that art has more than lost its way.

It was bad enough when Tracey Emin won a prize with her unmade bed. Now we have sunk to a spectacular new low which should have scrap dealers and rubbish dumps laughing all the way to the bank with ready-made artworks at their disposal at sites. Maybe the fly-tippers could yet be on to a good thing also.
