No sign of lifeline ferry's return as repairs hit a snag

FERRY chiefs have warned its is “impossible to say” how long a vessel on one of Scotland's busiest routes will remain out of service.

The MV Caledonian Isles runs between Ardrossan in Ayrshire and Brodick on Arran, but has been out of action since January 2024.

It had been due to return in recent weeks, but gearbox problems have forced delays.

Yesterday, CalMac announced the ship would return to dry dock for work on a pressure issue with its propulsion system.

Chief executive Duncan Mackison said the inspection will take a few days, and the length of time the ship will continue to be sidelined will not be known until that is completed.
