NATS BLAMED AS MOSSMORRAN SHUTS DOWN

CRITICS have slammed the Scottish Government as a major oil and gas plant shut its door.

ExxonMobil's decision to close its Mossmorran plant in Fife has been described as "another nail in the industry's coffin" and puts around 400 jobs at risk.

The Fife Ethylene Plant had been due to close this month but it was announced that production ended on Monday.

Exxon, who announced the closure last year, claimed the site was no longer financially viable.

It is understood that 69 staff will leave at the end of April, with 90 remaining to complete the decommissioning of the site.
