David Morrissey and Eve Myles head the cast of a dark new thriller about the mysterious disappearance of a headmaster's wife

Jennifer Macbeth also stars

She’s starred in The Guest, Cold Water and The Crow Girl in the past 12 months alone - now Eve Myles is back with another surefire hit.

In the tense drama Gone, Eve plays DS Annie Cassidy, who is investigating the disappearance of Sarah Polly. Sarah has been reluctantly reported missing by her husband Michael, the inscrutable headmaster of a private school, who holds impossibly high standards.

With themes of domestic violence and coercive control, Gone is a gripping psychological thriller, and the script left Eve reeling.

"If I get scared about something, I know it’s absolutely for me and that it's the next thing I should do," says Eve, 47. "If I read something or get involved in something and feel comfortable, then I've already done it, so it's time to move on. There are issues in this particular piece that I felt I wanted to give voice to. Hopefully we've created a story people really invest in."

After Michael, played by David Morrissey, reports his wife missing, Annie is assigned as his family liaison officer and the case is treated as a possible murder investigation.

She spends her time in the family home, watching Michael, who falls under suspicion.

But it’s not just her work life that’s complex, Annie’s marriage is too.

"We first meet Annie trying to rekindle her marriage that seems to be on the route to being fixed," says Eve.

Sustainable wine is more than just green grapes

WINE has been called the “canary in the coalmine” for global warming and, while it’s very nice we now grow grapes in southern England thanks to our warming climate, there's no doubt it gives pause for thought.
