McCarty's no longer spectator

DEBUTANT Matt McCarty made Masters history by shooting a 68 after dropping three shots in his first two holes.

The world No.56 will now play the weekend after planning to stay at Augusta to watch.

The American left-hander, 27, started with a double-bogey when he drove into the trees and then bogeyed the next.

But McCarty went on a birdie blitz from the sixth, picking up eight shots in 12 holes before a closing bogey.
