Manchester families' anger at prison attack

THE families of five people murdered by Hashem Abedi in the Manchester Arena bombing have told of their “absolute disbelief” that he could savagely attack three prison officers.

Despite being in a high-security unit at HMP Frankland, Abedi, 28, assaulted the officers on Saturday with DIY blades and hot cooking oil. He had attacked prison officers before in 2020.

In a letter to Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood, seen by the BBC, they say Abedi “should not have access to anything he can weaponise” and urged the Government to ensure he “cannot hurt anyone else”.
